Good afternoon, Class of 2026.

下午好，2026屆的同學們！

It is an honor to add my voice to the chorus welcoming you officially as members of the Harvard community.我很榮幸能夠在這里歡迎你們正式成為哈佛大學的一員。

One of the many reasons we admitted students from around the world, people with every interest imaginable, is because we learn from our differences.

哈佛錄取的學生來自世界各地，興趣各不相同，原因之一就是我們要從我們的差異中學習。

You can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. 你無法把點滴與未來聯系，只能通過回顧才能看見。所以你必須相信過去的點滴能夠串聯未來。

積累：

look forwar：朝前看，向前

look backward：向后看，回顧

v. connect：聯系；建立...聯系

常用搭配為：

~ A to/with B，（使）連接；聯結

~ sth (to sth)，接通；連接

Even more importantly, you must be willing to change your mind—to be persuaded by a better argument or new information. Only when you have this experience will you be well equipped to make a difference in the world. This is another skill I hope you will master at Harvard.

更重要的是，你必須愿意改變你的想法——被更好的論據或新的信息所說服。只有擁有了這樣的經驗，你才會有足夠的能力來改變世界。這是我希望你們在哈佛掌握的另一項技能。


Because believing in the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart,even when it leads you off the well-worn path and that will make all the difference.
